A Meaningful Milestone in Arusha!
APMC Opens Its Doors
On April 30, 2026, we celebrated the opening of the Arusha Pediatric & Maternal Care Centre (APMC)—a new centre dedicated to providing specialized, family-focused care for infants, children, adolescents, and mothers in Arusha.
This nonprofit, dedicated specialty pediatric outpatient centre is a first for Tanzania!
From the moment you step into the clinic, you can feel the excitement and joy that fills this place. The bright colors and artwork have surprised and delighted the families and guests who have come to see our new centre.
This milestone reflects the shared efforts of local healthcare professionals, community leaders, and partners working together to strengthen care for families. What began as a vision has taken shape through collaboration—from training a dedicated Tanzanian team to renovating the former St. Constantine School Town Campus. Once filled with classrooms and learning, the space now begins a new chapter as a place of healing and care.
We had so many encouraging responses from community partners as they toured the new facility, but the best response of all was from the visiting children who immediately donned the doctor and nurse coats and began to listen to our dolls’ heartbeats and lung sounds in our play corner.
Our young Tanzanian doctors and nurses are so excited to provide care in this new centre. The excitement and joy was palpable!
More than the opening of a building, this moment represents an opportunity to truly model pediatrics for tomorrow—starting today!
