Generating Evidence. Driving Innovation. Influencing Change.

Research generates evidence. Innovation transforms that evidence into practical, context-appropriate solutions. Advocacy helps those solutions influence clinical practice, strengthen healthcare systems, and improve outcomes for children across Africa.

Our goal is not simply to produce research, but to transform knowledge into action—helping healthcare professionals, hospitals, and policymakers make informed decisions that improve outcomes for children.

Advancing Child Health Through Research

Better healthcare begins with better evidence.

Working with hospitals, universities, and academic partners, we aim to generate practical, context-appropriate evidence that strengthens clinical care and informs health policy.

Over the coming years, we plan to:

  • Lay the foundation for a biomedical innovation program that develops practical solutions for low-resource settings.
  • Develop research partnerships with healthcare and academic institutions.
  • Conduct clinical research focused on neonatal and child health.
  • Share research findings through publications, conferences, and educational resources.
  • Support innovation that addresses the unique healthcare challenges of Africa.

Using Data to Improve Care

High-quality healthcare depends on accurate information and a commitment to continuous improvement.

ICHA aims to develop robust clinical data systems that will help healthcare providers measure outcomes, evaluate performance, and identify opportunities to improve patient care. These systems will support evidence-based decision-making while strengthening quality improvement initiatives across our programs and partner institutions.

Our plans include:

  • Developing integrated clinical and program databases.
  • Strengthening monitoring, evaluation, and outcomes reporting.
  • Supporting the implementation of evidence-based clinical protocols and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Expanding antimicrobial resistance surveillance and antimicrobial stewardship programs to promote responsible use of antibiotics.

Strengthening Healthcare Together

Improving child health requires strong partnerships.

ICHA is committed to working alongside ministries of health, hospitals, universities, professional associations, and development organizations to strengthen healthcare systems and expand access to high-quality pediatric and neonatal care.

Our long-term plans include:

  • Building regional collaboration networks across Africa.
  • Working with Ministries of Health to support evidence-based policy development.
  • Translating research into practical initiatives that strengthen healthcare systems.
  • Sharing best-practice guidelines, clinical protocols, and educational resources with healthcare professionals and institutions.

By bringing together research, innovation, education, and collaboration, ICHA seeks to help shape stronger healthcare systems and improve outcomes for children across Africa.
